Tim Hoppe started his career at the Thomaston Police Department in 2001 as a part-time reserve officer, then advancing to a full-time Patrol Officer. He was later promoted to Sergeant in 2011 and then Police Chief in 2017. 👮♂️
Tim Hoppe served the town for over 23 years, but he wasn’t only an asset to Thomaston, Maine.
In 2012 when Hurricane Sandy hit the part of New Jersey where he grew up, he connected with one of his friends in the fire department who was running a toy drive for Christmas. Tim got together with all the local PD‘s in Knox County, The Sheriff’s department and his mother Jo Ann with her nursing ties at the hospital and filled a Wells Fargo trailer full of toys. They also got 50 pounds of lobster donated and drove it all down to Belford New Jersey to the firehouse there to be distributed to the kids for Christmas. Two of the Knox County officers met Tim & co there as they were returning from Wreaths Across America and helped unload and wrap some of the gifts.
This is who Tim is. ❤️🇺🇸
Tim was also a part of the Explorers group for 12 years, ran a charity golf event for 10 years for youth groups, coached golf for Georges Valley for 5 years and negotiator for 13 years for the police department.
Tim was also the first officer to receive “officer of the year” for full time and part time from Maine Legislation.
We also can’t forget that he always carried candy in the cruiser to give to kids he came across on duty.
Tim has and always is thinking of others before himself and it shows in his commitment and generosity to the community.
We are lucky to have him in Thomaston and honored for him to be this year’s GRAND MARSHAL!Congratulations Tim Hoppe!!🥇💙🇺🇸🚔
